The Athens-Limestone County Tourists Association is housed in the Athens Visitors Center located in the old Athens Utilities Building which was built in 1906.  It is commonly know as the "Domino Hall" because men use to play dominos each week.  Athens City Council decided to renovate the building and allow the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce Tourism Council to rent the building for a Visitors Center.

On April 1, 2010, the Visitors Center opened at 100 Beaty Street North beside the duck pond at Big Spring Memorial Park.  The center has a visitors area, small museum, gift shop and meeting room that is available for rent.

A staff is available Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM - noon to answer questions, assist visitors in locating events, sports eventsattractions, hotels/motels, camp grounds, restaurants, walking, hiking, horse back riding trails, shopping and other items of interest.

Currently the museum has the Delmore Brothers exhibit on display.  Alton and Rabon Delmore were born in Limestone County, Alabama just north of Athens.  In 1931, the Delmore Brothers joined WSM's Grand Ole Opry. They stayed there until 1938 when they moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. This was the first in a series of moves that would take them to many places throughout the United States. It was at WLW in Cincinnati, Ohio, that they formed the Brown's Ferry Four Gospel Quartet. The original members of this famous quartet were Alton, Rabon, Grandpa Jones and Merle Travis.

Two local artists have some of their work on display also.

The gift shop has Civil War Prints, caps, t-shirts, handmade guilts, handmade purses, Christmas ornaments, Christmas Cards, Post Cards, BBQ Sauce, DVDs, CDs, and much more for sale.  Drop by and see what beautiful items we have for sale.
